The Kwajalein Yacht Club met on 27 October 2007 at 6:45pm, with 24 members in attendance 

KYC Commodore, Jim Stepchew:

Welcomed new members and guests.

Thanks to the cooks; Sarah and Denise for baked potatoes, and Monte for grilling brats and sausage.

Yeoman, Denise Dorn: Absent

Reading of minutes of previous meeting was waived.

Vice Commodore, Mark Long:

Currently have 52 family membership and 33 single memberships for a total of 137 members.

Purser, Denise Decoster:

Club balance is $11,421.08

Quartermaster, Michael Nast:

Ship’s Store Report, Richard Russell:

New hats have arrived; will be in-stock soon

Need someone to cover the Fall Craft Faire on November 5 from 10-2

Race Co-Chairs, Ed Zehr/Mike Turner:

October race was shortened due to light winds.  4 boats started with the finish being

  1. Chulita
  2. Moonshine
  3. Hobie Cat (Jim Burk)
  4. Outrigger Canoe

Next race is November 3 with the skipper meeting at SBM at 1:00.

NEW BUSINESS

·        Swashbuckler’s Ball was a great success, thanks to all that helped.  We even got a Thumbs Up in the Hourglass

·        Nominating Committee (chairman: Mike Turner) presented candidate slate of 2008 officers:

·        The floor was open to nomination, none submitted, so nominations were closed.  Elections in November.

·        Macy’s West approached the Yacht Club as to what supplies we would liked carried in the future (cut rope & chain, style sizes and lengths)  Rick Goltz will be the KYC POC.  Mike Nast points out that supply companyies ship rope cheaply, but chain really needs to be bought on island.

·        Nina Burnham has seen a draft version of the “new” SPI governing charging clubs and boathouses for power.

·        There is consideration as to installing a temporary meter at facilities to get a better estimate.

·        Next month's food will be Thanksgiving Leftovers

·        Boat owners are preparing for Parade of Lights December 16

·        Kevin Clements asked that KYC form a committee to look into “governing the mooring field”

·        Mike Nast is proposing a cruise to Nell over Veteran’s Day Weekend

·        A cruise to Namu Atoll between Christmas and New Years is proposed.

·        Monte Junker asked that with KRS going to 4x10 hours days, that we keep the meetings on Saturday night
