The Kwajalein Yacht Club met on Sept. 29, 2007 at 6:30pm.
KYC Commodore, Jim Stepchew:
Welcome to new members and thank you to ED and Sue for dinner.
Yeoman, Denise Dorn:
Reading of last month’s meeting minutes was waived. Minutes are available on the website and in hard copy.
Vice Commodore, Mark Long:
We currently have 130 members.
Purser, Denise Decoster:
Our current balance is $10,051.00. Bring any receipts to Denise for re-imbursement.
Quartermaster, Michael Nast:
Nothing new to report.
Ship’s Store Report, Richard Russell:
WE just got in more V-necks and tanks for women. Hats are on order.
Race Co-Chairs, Ed Zehr/Mike Turner:
9 boats participated in the Sept. race, and there was good wind and a good time was had by all. We tried for Saturday night but only one boat finished, Moonshine.
Next race is Oct. 7 with the skipper’s meeting at 1300 at the SBM.
Cruise Chairman:
Rick Goltz reported 4 boats went to Nell and 4 boats went to Roi Regatta, and they had a great time.
Webmaster, David Dethlefsen:

OLD BUSINESS
- A kayak was donated to the KYC
- Discussed Swashbuckler’s Ball preparations
- Sunfish regatta went well with 70 people attending. Thank you to Ed for running the races. We’re looking forward to next year!
- Getting nominating committee together.
NEW BUSINESS
- If you are having trouble with receiving emails see Mark Long or David Dethlefsen
- Nominating committee was selected- Mark Long, Monte Junker, Sue Zehr, Mike turner, John Beckler
- We will accept nominations from the floor in October and all nominations will be voted on in November.
- We had another break-in. We are no longer keeping $ in the club. This break-in took place within a 45-minute window of opportunity.
- Thank you to Monte and everyone who helped with the Sunfish Regatta, and Rick for the Roi Regatta.
- Swashbuckler’s Ball coming up. Theme is Pirates and Parrot heads. Costumes suggested (but not required) . We have 120 tickets and we are almost sold-out already. They will be available to non-members tomorrow.
- Lots of games, dinner at 7, with breakfast burritos at midnight for $5.00.
- Need someone to head up Parade of Lights, Bruce volunteered. It will be in conjunction with Scuba Santa.
Side meeting inside after dinner, Rick is talking about rumors.
We voted on a label for John Beckler’s beer label.
