The Kwajalein Yacht Club met on Saturday, May 26, 2007. 

KYC Commodore, Jim Stepchew:  Welcome to all! Thanks to Cathy and Joel for the food tonight. Adrian Browne and Felix Kramer just sailed in! Welcome to two past Commodores.  Welcome to all visitors and there are a lot!

Yeoman, Denise Spurlock: Reading of minutes from last meeting was waived.  Minutes are available on the website an in hard copy.  

Vice Commodore, Mark Long: We now have 43 family and 22 single memberships for a total of 110.

Purser, Denise DeCoster:  Not present, report given by Denise Dorn. Our current balance is $15,813.63.

If anyone has receipts that need to be reimbursed please send to Denise’s P.O. Box 1653 or drop them off at IT office. She leaves June 12 for the summer.

Quartermaster Michael Nast:  Please come out and join us for Thursday Happy Hour!!

Ship’s Store Report:  Not present but an order has been recently placed.

Race Chairman, Ed ZehrWe had our Annual Mother’s Day race on May 13, with a handicap of 1 minute per mother aboard. Results:

  4. Mango
  5. Down East Trader
  6. Kailuana

Our Saturday Sunset race was held on May 19 with four boats participating.

Cruise Chairman: Memorial Day weekend cruise planned for Nell. So far Kailuana and Cherokee are going.

Webmaster, David Dethlefsen:  Website has been transferred to a new hosting plan with greater storage and bandwidth.  If you have KYC related pictures you would like to have posted on the website, e-mail them to: webmaster@kwajyachtclub.com

Sunfish King, Monte Junker:  The Sunfish Regatta will be held June 10, from 10am-4pm with rides from 10-2. The SBM will let us use the Hobies. There will be races at 4pm! Monte needs volunteers to help. Have your sailing endorsement ready if you are going to give rides. Mike Nast has offered to assist with his dingy for the event. We will have hotdogs, chips and drinks.

OLD BUSINESS:

·                    New boats in and on moorings.

NEW BUSINESS:

·                    We had another break-in, they found the key to the cooler and took all the cash including coins. We will immediately install a new door knob and deadbolt. No money will be left in the building again.

·                    Last weekend we had a work party, painted inside and out, power-washed the rope and trimmed the weeds back. Big thanks to all- you Rock!

·                    June 10th will be Sunfish Regatta at Camp Hamilton.

·                    Motion to sponsor 2 Marshallese for the Guest Student lunch program- approved.

·                    June 7th we will have a special Happy Hour to honor our past Commodores; we currently have 7 on island and that’s cause to celebrate.  Pupu’s being catered by food services. Please come!

·                    Rick Goltz will be launching his boat on the weekend of June 2-3rd, and needs people to help

·                    Ed Zehr stated the marine department is no longer available for haul-out. The procedure has been changed and a work requisition with heavy equipment is now required.
