The Kwajalein Yacht Club met on March 31st, 2007 @ 7:30pm.
Commodore, Jim Stepchew:
Welcome to new members and guests. Thank you to Denise, Michael, Geary and Pam for the Mexican food tonight.
Yeoman, Denise Spurlock:
Reading of minutes from last meeting was waived. Minutes are available on the website.
Vice Commodore, Mark Long:
Not present. - We currently have 39 family and 19 single memberships. If you have not renewed your membership, you need to do so immediately.
Purser, Denise Decoster:
Not present – again! We think she might have a life outside of the KYC.
Quartermaster, Mike Nast:
Happy Hour Thursdays have been lightly attended lately. If members want to keep it going, then attendance must increase. Otherwise, it’s not worth the salary we’re paying Mike!
Ship’s Store Report:
Rich not present. We have new polo’s in and wine glasses.
Race Chairman, Mike Turner:
Mike Turner reported that 8 boats raced last month, with slide show! April 1 is the official beer can race, with the skipper’s meeting at 1300 at the small boat marina. Food was served afterwards at the KYC. We will have our first Sunset Sail on Saturday, April 14 at 5:45pm. Please file your float plan with Harbor Control.
Cruise Chairman:
Ed Zehr graciously took over as the Cruise Chairman. Look for exciting things to follow!
Sunfish Chairman, Monte Junker:
Sunfish work party will be on Thursday night at KYC.
Webmaster, David Dethlefsen:
Not Present - probably tending to baby girl :)
OLD BUSINESS
- Commodore’s Ball was a blast, a good time had by all!
- April 15th will be the Chili Cook-off & Music fest. Sign up sheets for chili competition are with Rick Larkin. In conjunction with the festival, the KYC will be offering sunfish rides at Emon beach. If you would like to volunteer to help, contact Monte. We have 3 boats available and SBM has 2 Hobies for rent.
- KYC has jack stands available, please pay lot fee for usage.
NEW BUSINESS
- SBM per USAKA direction, will relocate KYC boat lot by June 1.
- Jim Crouch (past commodore) will be coming out in June. GET MORE BUD in the fridge!
- SBM pier has rules posted for private boats making reservations
- It’s Karen Brady’s birthday!
- Dale Finley needs help hauling out “Sunrise”, at 4pm tomorrow.
- There have been thefts at the boat shacks! Cigarettes and money have been taken. Neighborhood watch called it in and KPD did apprehend somebody.
- When can we have a work day to paint the inside of the club? Also will be working on the boat bar. Will send out an email.
- Mike Turner said that it was very pleasant to have a meeting without children running thru and disrupting it.
