Minutes for December 2006

The Kwajalein Yacht Club met on December 30th, 2006, at 6:30pm. 

KYC Commodore, Jim Stepchew:

Welcome to all new people.

Yeoman, Denise Dorn:   

Reading of minutes from last month’s meeting was waived.  Minutes are available in hard copy and on the KYC website

Vice Commodore, Mark Long:

Membership is still at 183, plus new baby, Marina Dethlefsen!

Purser, Denise Decoster:

Not present, but we have approximately $11,000.00 in the bank.

Quartermaster, Jeff Griswold: 

Not present but, “We are well stocked,” according to Mike Nast

Ship’s Store Report: 

No new items, but sales are going well on existing items.

Race Chairman, Bruce Premo: 

Eight boats participated in our last race (including 4 multi-hulls).  Results as follows:

The parade of lights was another success! Awards were presented to the 5 KYC participants. Each boat received $75.00 for their efforts!

Cruise Chairman, Mike Cheatham: 

Proposed a trip to Bigej on the 20th.

Webmaster, David Dethlefsen:

I apologize for the lack of updates recently.  I was off-island anxiously awaiting the arrival of our baby daughter, Marina.  The calendar is up to date.  The reservations calendar for the KYC is wide open, so anyone can sign up if they would like to reserve the club for private use.  If you know someone with a boat for sale, remind them of the KYC’s free web posting service. 

OLD BUSINESS

The executive committee was elected:

If you are interested in sponsoring Yachtees check with David Dethlefsen. He has information regarding a couple of boats that are looking for sponsorship to visit Kwajalein.

NEW BUSINESS

New boats in the water!! Congratulations to “Synergy” and “Down East Trader”!

We have a new boat owner, Michael Nast just bought “Kailuana”!

Discussion on raising the membership dues, cutoff date to vote is Dec. 13.

Jan. 11 is “Get in the Mix”, from 6-8pm at the gym. We will have a booth.
