The Kwajalein Yacht Club met on Saturday, October 28, 2006, 6:30pm.
KYC Commodore, Jim Stepchew:
Thank you to Monte and Barbara Junker for the meal this evening. Welcome to new boat owners, the Madores. They are proud new owners of the Columbia 26 MK II.
Yeoman, Denise Spurlock:
Minutes from the last meeting were waved. They are available on our web page.
Vice Commodore, Mark Long:
We currently have 183 members. If a membership card is needed, contact Mark.
Purser, Denise Decoster:
Not present, however our balance is approximately $12,000. We spent approximately $4000 on the Swashbuckler's Ball and brought in roughly $3500 in ticket sales.
Quartermaster Jeff Griswold:
Running low on Coors Light island wide.
Ship’s Store report:
New merchandise has arrived (including new t-shirts as well as coffee and travel mugs). Should we think about a new t-shirt design? Possibly market towards a children’s design?
Race Chairman, Bruce Premo:
Not present.
Cruise Chairman, Mike Cheatham:
Not present, however a trip is planned to Nell on Thanksgiving weekend. Contact Mike Cheatham for more details.
OLD BUSINESS
- Thank you to everyone who helped with the Swashbuckler’s Ball!
- If you have Sunfish regatta photos, please send to Dave D.
- Roi regatta was cancelled.
- Relay for Life was a success with 1245.00 raised. The Ship’s Store will be set up at the craft fair. If you can spare an hour or so to man the booth, it would be greatly appreciated.
NEW BUSINESS
- Bruce was nominated to chair the Parade of Lights. It will be held on Dec. 17 or 18th.
- Swashbuckler’s Ball was a great success. Thank you to everyone for their help! Sandy, you are INCREDIBLE!

- Jeff will be committee chairperson for the nominating committee.
- Next month we will bring up nominations at the meeting.
- Fact-finding committee will be formed to check on pier at the small boat marina. Rick Goltz will chair this committee.
- Sailing vessel Fluid Motion and s/v Content are looking for sponsors. Fluid Motion is looking to arrive mid December and Content is looking to arrive the first quarter of 2007.
- Next month’s meeting will be the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Everyone bring your left-overs.
