OLD BUSINESS
· The work crew was thanked for their help on the club.
· Swashbuckler Ball needs Set-up and Clean-up Committees. Sign up after meeting.
· Roi Chili Cook-off was Sept. 24th. Successful, great fun.
· Sunfish Regatta was held. Another success. Thanks to all who helped with boats, rides, cooking, etc. Requesting volunteer for future Regatta chairperson. Discussed scheduling for future regattas, possibly 1:00 – 6:00 with potluck to follow, instead of 10:00 – 4:00.
· Motion was made and passed to postpone Roi Regatta, scheduled for Oct. 8 – 10, due to lack of boats planning to make the trip and weather concerns.
· Quarterly boat lot inspections are coming up.
· Boat cradle, able to accommodate boats up to 40’, is available. See Ed Zehr.
· Still missing a Laser rudder from earlier regatta. See Mark Long.
· People returning from vacations are noting that their KYC membership cards are being accepted everywhere. Some clubs offer complimentary drinks or discounts.
NEW BUSINESS
· This past month we’ve done a lot of things to improve the club and the sunfish fleet. Jim listed a number of people who have donated their time and efforts.
· Sunfish Regatta was a success, but there is still more work to be done. Goal is to get all boats in identical shape and have after work races on Thursdays. Timeframe for future repairs is January, with racing to begin in April. When the boats are ready, a sunfish committee will be formed to decide the “who, what, how, and where” for sunfish usage and rules. Look for pictures on the website.
· Happy hour on Thursdays is going well, but need more “happy” people to come down.
· The Swashbuckler’s Ball is sold out. David Dethlefsen is maintaining a wait-list for tickets. If you know someone who has purchased tickets and will not be attending, please encourage them to return the tickets to David for a refund. Tickets will then be offered to people on the wait list. Need volunteers for set-up and take-down.
· Christmas Parade of Lights is approaching. Combining the event with the Kwajalein Scuba Club’s “Scuba Santa” was discussed. Request was made for someone to chair the event.
· Craft Fair/Holiday Bazaar is about a month away. We will need volunteers to man the booth during the fair.
· KYC is sponsoring a team (The Naught Yachties) for the Relay for Life. See Jane Russell after the meeting to volunteer time and/or money.
· As the Roi Regatta has been cancelled, Jim will be canceling room reservations made under the club’s name. See Jim if you are interested in using the rooms or to cancel reservations.
· There was a discussion about compelling members to volunteer five hours a year to help with activities/repairs so that the same members do not end up performing all jobs.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:30. Sarah Stepchew
