The Kwajalein Yacht Club met on August 26, 7:30p.m.
KYC Commodore, Jim Stepchew:
Welcomed everyone
5 new couples at the meeting (4 locals, 1 visitor)
Yeoman, Denise Spurlock:
Off island - Minutes from the last meeting were waived as they are available on our web site and hard copy is always on hand.
Vice Commodore, Mark Long:
Reported 169 members, this is 2 more than all of last year.
Purser, Denise Decoster:
Over $13,000 in the bank
She wants to express her thanks for the efforts of the work-crew from the previous week. Especially thanked the commodore because he can’t thank himself.
Quartermaster, Jeff Griswold:
Good turn-out for happy hours in recent weeks.
Asked membership to help clean-up after meetings and volunteer for work-crews.
Asked for any special happy hour requests
Ship’s Store, Jane Russell:
Coffee mugs and travel cups are on order.
We have several different designs for women’s shirts, please check them out and make suggestions. All input is welcome.
Race Chairman, Bruce Premo:
Race was held on August 5 with lots of wind: 9 boats entered, very close finish. (1. Felix 2. Moonshine 3. Indigo)
The next race is Sept 10 with a skipper meeting at 1:00 pm SBM.
Late October: a Marina boat race; Crew up a boat, race, then switch boats.
Cruise Chairman, Mike Cheatham:
Light winds in August so we had a get together at Camp Hamilton instead.
Trip to Roi planned for Labor Day Weekend.
Mali will be headed to the Ujae Atoll in part of a Marshallese Navigation Demonstration.

Ebeye School Lunch programmed thanked KYC for supporting 2 children.
Sunfish Regatta Sept 17, volunteers needed beforehand for boat repair and on the day of the regatta for logistical support.
Relay for Life on Oct 15, see Jane Russell to help.
Swashbuckler Ball Oct 22.
Theme: Dead Men Tell No Tales
Prizes: Costume prizes: best, worst, apathetic, etc.

Many people returning from vacation are noting that their KYC membership card is being accepted everywhere. Some clubs offer complementary drinks or discounts.
