The Kwajalein Yacht Club met on February 25th, 2006, 6:30pm.
KYC Commodore, Jim Stepchew: Commodore Jim Stepchew called the meeting to order at 6:50PM. Guests and new members were introduced.
Yeoman, Denise Spurlock: Minutes from January meeting were not read, move to skip by Ed Zehr
Vice Commodore, Mark Long: Reported 101 members currently, with the new membership cards on the way. The first batch of cards was lost in the mail and reordered. They should all be here by March.
Purser, Denise DeCoster: Deposited $2,376.00 from Ship’s Store receipts and $2,236.00 from membership dues. We currently have a total balance of $15,171.00, with $2,376.00 paid out for decorations, T-shirts, etc.
Quartermaster Jeff Griswold: Doing well.
Ship’s Store report: Inventory being done, Jane and Rich reported that they have printed out a suggestion sheet and posted inside
Race Chairman, Bruce Premo: The race on Feb. 5 was great, with 9 boats participating, only 8 finished, but a good turnout with winds at 13-15 knots. Next race will be on March 12 and we will have a cookout afterwards.
Cruise Chairman, Mike Cheatham: Reported a great sail to Nell, with 3 boats participating. We bid farewell to Wendy and Garth. Next sail will be to Majuro, March 22.
Reports were approved as read.
OLD BUSINESS
We will be looking at the books. There is a new policy for the usage of the club's facility, with a $36.00 fee for usage and a $50.00 damage deposit.
Cherece Griswold stepped down and the Russell's took over the Ship's Store.
There is now a lock on the storage.
We are still looking for someone to head up Sunfish committee
NEW BUSINESS
The Coconut cup will be March 26-28 with a bunch of yachtees coming in from Bikini Atoll, possibly as many as 8. Rick Goltz is sponsoring and Bruce Premo is looking for moorings for these boats. They will probably stay at Nell and come in one at a time. Should we have a potluck for everyone?
Commodore's Ball is Sunday, from 6:00-7:00 Will be cocktails then the door will open. The Zooks will be playing. We will be decorating Sat. night at 6:00, please help. Tickets will be on sale at 10/10 porch on Sat.
Our clubhouse was broken into and the culprits went for the liquor cabinet, but didn't get in. Nothing was taken. We will fix the windows and motion lights will be installed.
April 2 will be the 6th Annual Music Festival & Chili Cook-off. Steve Banducci will need help.
March meeting will be on the 18th due to the Coconut cup.
Kudos to Dave for the work he's done on the web page, with the new feature- club reservations.
We are still looking for volunteers for our dinners.
The hot water heater is now in place and we have hot water! Thanks to Mike Spurlock. It is usually turned off - call if you need it.
Shed by the round the round house is termite-ridden and needs to be demolished. Ed Zehr suggested we meet on March 19 to tear down.
