The Kwajalein Yacht Club met on January 28, 2006, 6:30pm.

KYC Commodore, Jim Stepchew: Commodore Jim Stepchew called the meeting to order at 7:45 PM. Guests and new members were introduced.

Yeoman, Denise Spurlock: Minutes from Dec. meeting were not read, move to skip by Ed Zehr

Vice Commodore, Mark Long: Reported 47 members currently, with the membership drive in full swing

Purser, Denise Decoster: Reported 13,180.00 in account with a 1300.00 deposit made Jan. 28

Quartermaster Jeff Griswold: Reported 1,040.00 from the ship's store

Ship's Store Report: Cherece Griswold will be stepping down, and new prospects are being considered. Mary Kulig was nominated, as well as Jane and Rich Russell, who were not present

Race Chairman, Bruce Premo: Discussion about the Jan. Beer Can race. Bruce Premo won, or so he said!

Next race, Feb. 5 with the skipper's meeting beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Cruise Chairman, Mike Cheatham: Announced plans for an aggressive year with the first cruise of the year to be held Jan. 29, trip to Bijei. Next month, Feb.19-21, trip to Namu. March will be the Coconut Cup, to be held the 25-27th. April will be a trip to Toruji. And May will be a cruise to Nell, for the Roi Regatta

OLD BUSINESS

The Coast Guard ship, "Sequoia" will be arriving and should invite the crew to our meeting with dinner included.

We received approval from the Yuk for Commodore's Ball.

"Get in the Mix" was held, with success, and a nice display.

Membership drive coming up.

"New stereo" committee did not come up with a solution for the club stereo. A motion was made by Ed Zehr and seconded by Mike Nast for the club to purchase a stereo and components (not to exceed $1600)

NEW BUSINESS

Our finance books have been turned over, and need to be looked at by 3 members in the club. Mike Nast, Tom Dillion, and Peter Barbella volunteered.

Community wants to use the Yacht Club facilities, so a facilities user registry was started with a fee of $36.00 for non-members and a $50.00 cleaning deposit

Received approval from small boat marina to use the first Quonset hut for storage.

Need someone to take over the sunfish hut, repair etc, and will set up a committee.

Thank you to scuba club for the recovery dive, the cookout to follow went well.

Jill Reese thanked everyone for their help with "Fusion"

Coconut Cup will be held on March 25-27. We're working with Robert Reimers for a 10% discount for bungalows. Over 30 boats will be participating.

The agenda will be as follows:

Sarah Stepchew proposed buying a dinghy for the Yacht Club to own for safety and general use. Suggested forming a committee to take care of it.
