Minutes for October 22, 2005

Nancy Barge   

The Kwajalein Yacht Club met on October 22, 2005 at 6:30pm. 

KYC Commodore, Ed Zehr: Commodore Ed Zehr called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Guests and new members were introduced.

Yeoman, Nancy Barge: Minutes were read and approved.

Vice Commodore, Val Gower: Val Gower PCS’d, Jim Stepchew was nominated and approved to assume the duties of Vice Commodore until new officers are elected in November.

Purser, Ann Hosti: Ann was absent. Dave Dethlefsen gave the pursers report. Swashbucklers Ball revenues are as follows:

• Ticket sales: $3,260 (150 tickets)
• Red Cross Donation: % of Ticket Revenue: $750
• Silent Auction: $835
• Homebrew and bartender tips donation: $517
• Subtotal: $2,102
• Bechtel Match $2,102
• Total Red Cross Donation $4,204

Quartermaster Mike Nast: A bigger turn out is needed for Thursday happy hour. The Commodore proposed having Margarita night one Thursday a month. A good turnout is required to make it worth while.

Ship store report: No report.

Race Chairman, Bruce Premo:

• The October 3^rd race was cancelled due to light winds.
• Chulita took first place in the October 9^th race.
• Next race is Sunday November 6^th; skippers meeting at 1300, post race hamburgers and hotdogs at the Yacht Club.

Cruise Chairman, Mike Turner: A cruise is planned to Namu November 27 & 28, weather permitting. Those interested in participating contact Mike.

OLD BUSINESS

Swashbucklers Ball was a great success; thanks to all that helped in the planning of the event, especially Chairman Dave Dethlefsen and party planner extraordinaire Sandy Herrington.

2005 Officers Nominating Committee submitted the following slate of officers for election on November 26, 2005 meeting.

• Commodore: Jim Stepchew
• Vice Commodore: Mark Long
• Purser: Denise DeCoster
• Yeoman: Denise Spurlock
• Quartermaster: Jeff Griswold

NEW BUSINESS 

Volunteers needed to sell Ship's Store merchandise at the November 7^th craft fair. Contact Jeff Griswold.

Parade of Lights will be held December 18. Bruce Premo is the event coordinator.

The December meeting will be held on the 17th.
