The Kwajalein Yacht Club met on August 27, 2005 at 6:30pm.
KYC Commodore, Ed Zehr: Commodore Ed Zehr called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. Guests and new members were introduced.
Yeoman, Nancy Barge: Reading of minutes waived.
Vice Commodore, Val Gower: There are 150 members in good standing. Membership cards are here, contact Val.
Purser, Ann Hosti: Ann is off island. Val Gower gave pursers report. Money received: $216 memberships, $2,095 Ships stores. Current Balance: $11, 068.25
Quartermaster, Mike Nast: Nothing to Report
Ship's Store: No report
Race Chairman, Bruce Premo: 2 races were held in August, winds were light. Six races remaining of the 13 race season. Current standings:
David Lad and Mike Turner lead the Multi-hull division; Mike Cheatham and Mike Harrington lead the cruising boats; Sandra Herrington and Rod Godfrey the small boat division and Bruce Premo and Brian and Sonja Sava the racing class. The next race will be held Sunday September 4. The date for the September evening race has not been determined.
Cruise Chairman, Mike Turner: No report.
OLD BUSINESS
Ed requested volunteers to clean up the short-term haul out area and move Sunfish parts out of the storage container on September 12. Several members volunteered.
Volunteers were requested for a work party to tear down the Yacht Club boat shack on September 19th. There were no volunteers.
NEW BUSINESS
Sunfish Regatta – Date changed to September 26. Manit day celebration is on the same date. Discussion ensued concerning these events occurring on the same day. It was decided to leave the date unchanged.
Swashbuckler's Ball – October 16. Dave Dethlefsen is the chairman. The theme is Ship of Ghouls. Dave requested volunteers for set up, cleanup and decorating.
Members voted to stay with tradition and hold the November meeting on November 26 the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Rick Goltz requested volunteers to help with hauling Voyager out of the water on September 11.
Farewell wishes were given to PCSing member Cheryl Wilman.
