Minutes for February
Nancy Barge
The Kwajalein Yacht Club met on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 6:30pm.
KYC Commodore, Ed Zehr: Commodore Ed Zehr called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM. Guests and new members were introduced.
Yeoman, Nancy Barge: A motion was passed to waive reading of the minutes
Vice Commodore, Val Gower: Membership drive continues.
Purser, Ann Hosti was absent: The club is solvent.
Quartermaster Mike Nast: The club is well stocked with beverages.
Ship's Store report: Cherese and Jeff Griswold volunteered to assume responsibility for the ship’s store.
Race Chairman, Bruce Premo: was absent. Next race will be March 13th. Skipper's meeting at 1:00 PM at the small boat marina.
Cruise Chairman, Mike Turner: No report.
OLD BUSINESS
- Commodore’s Ball: Approval received. Tickets are on sale.
- Coconut Cup: No response from Majuro. We have request that it be held on April 10th.
- Chili Cook-off: The event is April 3rd. Requests were made for volunteers. No takers yet.
NEW BUSINESS
- The constitution was approved. We now need to work on updating club by-laws.
- Monthly galley and clean-up rosters have been posted. Members are requested to sign up.
- Sully was recognized for his efforts in securing a loose barge during the recent storm preventing damage to several yachts.
- Nate Jackson was recognized for his years of service to the Kwajalein Yacht Club. Commodore Ed Zehr presented Nate with a gift from Kwajalein Yacht Club members. Mary Ann Lane presented Nate with a collage from USAKA.
- Tim Chesnut was thanked for preparing the delicious fried fish dinner.
- The next meeting is scheduled for March 19th.
